  1. I’ve heard/read the time turner theory a couple of times now and there’s no way it’s even remotely plausible.
First, JKR has stated that she thinks time travel is a finnicky beast. It tends to screw up plots and that’s why she has destroyed them in OOTP. So I doubt she’d just go ahead and introduce them again just to drop a name.
Then there’s the thing that time turners only work in a couple hours time span (disregarding Cursed Child). There’s additional details on that in one of the companion books (Heroes, Hardships, etc), but I can’t remember which one.
Also, McGonagall didn’t have one just lying around, she explicitly stated having to fill out a metric crapton of paperwork to get one from the ministry for Hermione

  2. My interpretation of Leta being a “taker” is that she’s emotionally needy, and Newt, being socially awkward and possibly on the Autism spectrum, can’t give her the kind of emotional response she needs.

As for Grindelwald’s impersonation of Graves in the first movie, the script book doesn’t mention how the transformation was achieved.
